The Secretary-General of the National Organisation of Trade Unions (NOTU), Richard Bigirwa, has emphasized the importance of collaboration and strategic partnerships in advancing workers’ rights and national development.
Speaking at a trade union engagement, Bigirwa noted that collective action among trade unions and stakeholders plays a critical role in strengthening workers’ representation and promoting inclusive economic growth.
“These kinds of arrangements are very key to the development of this country,” Bigirwa said, adding that cooperation among organizations creates stronger platforms for addressing workers’ concerns and improving their welfare.
He further stated that the National Organisation of Trade Unions fully supports initiatives that bring together institutions, workers’ representatives, and development partners to share knowledge, benchmark best practices, and promote sustainable development.
Bigirwa also encouraged trade union leaders and members to remain committed to building strong institutions that protect workers’ rights while contributing to the country’s broader socio-economic transformation.
The National Organisation of Trade Unions continues to play a significant role in advocating for decent work, improved labor conditions, and policies that support workers across various sectors in Uganda.
